Board Of Directors

John Rodger

President

John Rodger’s lifelong interest in athletics began as a thirteen-year-old when he joined Paisley Harriers, competing in his first National Cross-Country Championship at Hamilton Park Racecourse in 1960.

His family moving to Africa disrupted his athletic career, and it wasn’t until Kilbarchan AAC reformed in 1974 that John’s interest in the sport was rekindled. Since that time, he has been an enthusiastic club runner and committee member, serving two terms as president.

He campaigned successfully to build an all-weather. athletics facility within Renfrewshire, which was opened by Steve Ovett OBE in 1991. He was instrumental in raising funds to construct an indoor athletic facility adjacent to the outdoor track. This opened in 2021.

John served as a director of the Renfrewshire Leisure Trust from 1993 until  2017 and was race director of the Paisley 10k Road Race and 3km fun run for many years.

At a national level, John has been a selector and team manager for scottishathletics and has served two terms as the Convenor of the Road and Cross Country Commission.

A career in software development started in the late sixties in London and ended when he retired as Sales and Marketing Director of a major software development company.
