Scottish Eligibility

Standard International Matches

To be considered for selection to compete for Scotland in Standard International Matches, an athlete must meet at least one of the following three criteria:

  • Be born in Scotland
  • Have a parent born in Scotland
  • Have evidence of continuous residency of at least the last three years in Scotland

To have Scottish eligibility confirmed, please contact performanceteam@scottishathletics.org.uk and, where appropriate, forward relevant documentation e.g. birth certificates.

Commonwealth Games

To be considered for selection to compete for Scotland in Commonwealth Games, an athlete must have a valid UK passport and meet at least one of the following four criteria:

  • Be born in Scotland
  • Have a parent born in Scotland
  • Have evidence of continuous residency of at least three years in Scotland
  • Have a grandparent born in Scotland

Commonwealth Games eligibility is as determined by the Commonwealth Games Federation and full details can be found in the Team Scotland Athletics Selection Policy.
