Coach Level (L2 and beyond) Licence Card

You will use several different online systems as you complete the licence process:

  • Athletics Hub is used to book courses, access your study resources and can also be used to update your contact information.
  • myathletics portal is used to manage the information we hold on you in regards to your UKA licence.
  • The scottishathletics online portal is where you would manage your scottishathletics Coach membership.

When you have completed the relevant steps, you will not see any confirmation but rest assured that if you have completed the steps below, your licence will be up to date and your card posted out to you.

If you have not received your licence card within 8 weeks of completing all of the steps outlined in the appropriate section below, please contact coaching@scottishathletics.org.uk.

Completing Your Athletics Coach or CiRF?

COMPLETE ALL PRE/POST COURSE WORK & ATTEND ALL PRACTICAL DAYS + YOUR ASSESSMENT

All course resources, including the relevant Mandatory Training can be accessed via Athletics Hub:

  • Log in to – Athletics Hub, it will open on the ‘My Dashboard’ Page.
  • On the left hand menu, click on ‘Online Courses’.
  • Select ‘Go To MyLearning’ and ensure that you have completed all relevant steps prior to and after practical days and your assessment.

As your licence has to be up to date to book onto these courses your criminal record check and photo will already be up to date for your licence to be reissued following completion of the qualification.

CiRF

Please note in Scotland, the following apply:

  • Coaching with a scottishathletics affiliated athletics club – Ensure that you have an up to date PVG. If not, please contact your club’s Welfare Officer who will guide you through this process.
  • All other Coach in Running Fitness (will be issued with O18 licence card only) – complete online Self Declaration using this form: Self Declaration

Renewing a Coach Level Licence (L2 and beyond)?

The steps below are intended to provide some further guidance to assist in completing the process.

Step 1 – COMPLETE MANDATORY SAFEGUARDING & FIRST AID TRAINING AND UPDATES FOR COACH LICENSING RENEWALS TIER 2 (FACE TO FACE ONLINE SAFEGUARDING AND FIRST AID)

Find and Purchase Mandatory Training (Tier 2)

  • Use the following link to access the booking page for the MANDATORY SAFEGUARDING & FIRST AID TRAINING AND UPDATES FOR COACH LICENSING RENEWALS (TIER 2) course.
    • When booking, please make sure to select the date/ time that is most suitable for you to complete the Safeguarding course.
  • You will be prompted to log in to Athletics Hub to complete your purchase. You will need your URN (on licence card) or email address and password.
  • Courses can also be accessed using the Qualifications & CPD option on the left hand menu in Athletics Hub.

Once you have purchased your Mandatory Training (TIER 2), you can access it via Athletics Hub.

  • Once you log in, it will open on the ‘My Dashboard’ Page.
  • On the left hand menu, click on ‘Online Courses’.
  • Select ‘Go To MyLearning’:
    • Select the ‘Mandatory Training’ module and complete all elements (including the declaration).

Step 2 – COMPLETE THE RELEVANT CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK

    • Athletics Coach (L2 or beyond)
      • Ensure that you have an up to date PVG/ Self- Declaration in place.
      • If not, please contact your club’s Welfare Officer who will guide you through this process.
      • If you are not with a club, or if you have any other queries, please contact: pvg@scottishathletics.org.uk
    • Coach in Running Fitness
      • Coaching with a scottishathletics affiliated athletics club – Ensure that you have an up to date PVG/ Self Declaration in place.
      • If not, please contact your club’s Welfare Officer who will guide you through this process.
      • All other Coach in Running Fitness (will be issued with O18 licence card only) – complete online Self Declaration using this form: Self Declaration

DBS is the English/ Welsh equivalent of a criminal record check in Scotland.

In no situation should a Scottish based Leader/ Coach progress an application to DBS. 

Please follow the steps above and do not click the ‘renew now’ button on My Athletics Portal.

Step 3– UPLOAD OR RENEW YOUR PHOTO AND CHECK YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS

  • Log in to myathletics portal, it will open on the Summary page.
  • On this page, check that all your details are correct.
  • If you need to make any changes, use the links on the left hand side of the page.
    • Photographs:
      • Please only use a portrait orientation, passport style photograph for licensing purposes. This photo will be used on your licence card.
      • Photographs should be updated every 3 years, in line with licence renewals.
      • Your photograph should be no larger than 100×130 pixel, under 4MB
    • To upload a new photo click ‘edit member image’ on the right hand side of the ‘Personal Details’ box.
    • A new window will open called ‘Update Member Image’, select ‘Choose File, upload your photo (making sure it meets the requirements listed above) and click save.
    • The photo should now appear in the ‘Personal Details’ box.
