U18 Mountain Cup, Annecy

Saturday 27 May

Junior hill runners from Scotland are headed for France to compete in the U18 Mountain Cup this weekend.

The international competition is for Juniors born in 2006 and 2007. The athletes will stay in Annecy and travel about 30 minutes to the Semnox ski resort for the races.

Runners compete over a single loop, climbing to the summit where there’s a café before descending back down the hill. The course is through alpine meadow and forestry. There are amazing views from the summit and the course is 4.6km with 230m climb/descent.

Experienced team managers Mike Pearson and Jane Robertson will be accompanying the team and our new Junior co-ordinator, Phil Mestecky, will be learning the ropes.

Everyone at scottishathletics sends our good luck wishes to all the athletes and our congratulations on selection to the athletes, families, coaches and clubs.

Scotland teams:

Ronnie Brown (Team East Lothian); Thomas Hilton (Moorfoot Runners);Rowan Taylor (Lasswade)

Katie Meek (Inverness); Isla Patterson (Gala Harriers); Jessica Taylor (Edinburgh AC)
