Crieff 10k: more info

With temperatures soaring this weekend, conditions are sure to be hot for the scottishathletics National Trail Running Championships this Sunday at the Crieff 10k event.

Seniors and U20 race over 10km and our U17 and U15 athletes will compete over a 5km route.

The 10k race starts from Morrison’s Academy sports ground (Dallerie). The course goes out over Laggan Hill past the Baird Monument and back along the banks of the River Earn via Lady Mary’s Walk.

It’s a scenic route and climbs 220m of ascent. The junior race follows a shorter loop and finishes along St Mary’s Walk.

The men’s event promises to be competitive with Ross Gollan (East Sutherland), Moray Pryde (Lothian), Hamish Hickey (Central) and Dan Dry (Shettleston) all on the start list.

In the women’s event, last year’s winner, Alice Goodall (Carnethy) and runner up Helen Leigh (Inverness) will be hoping to make the podium again.

Jamie and Alice win Trail golds at Birnam (June 2024)

Women’s podium at last year’s Trail Champs

There are over 300 runners entered for the championship and the Masters competition looks strong with medallists from previous editions toeing the line.

There are 50 junior athletes entered for the U17/U15 5k trail race, which is a mix of hill and a fast flat final 800m.

In the U17 event brothers Lachlan and Kaedan Thomas (Ross County) and Eilidh Dallas (Strathearn) will be using their hill experience and track speed respectively to race for a podium finish.

Thanks to Strathearn Harriers for hosting the event and good luck to everyone racing on the day.

With thanks to Angela Mudge
