Jamie and Alice win Scottish Trail golds after battles at Birnam

GB and NI internationals Jamie Crowe and Alice Goodall took the wins at the Scottish National Mid Trail Championships held over an undulating 10km course at Birnam, Perthshire.

Central AC’s Crowe had a good battle with Andy Douglas, running for Westerlands CCC on the hills and trails, but came out on top by nine seconds, clocking 34.04 to Douglas’s34:13.

Carnethy’s Finn Lydon took third as Central won the men’s team golds.

Edinburgh AC athlete Goodall was a more clearcut winner of the women’s race, recording 39:01, well clear of Helen Leigh, Highland Hill Runners, in 45:22 and Muriel MacLeod, Stornoway, in 47:54

Helen’s silver helped Highland Hill Runners to gold in the women’s team race.

The Men’s 1-2-3 at Birnam

Louisa Brown of Garscube took the Women’s U20 gold in 49:31, and Iain Jordan of Perth Strathtay the Men’s U20 title in 38:05.

In the Junior races, run over a 5km course, there were wins at U15 for Cerys Wright (Lasswade) and Joe Butler, Garscube, and at U17 for Mirabelle Meade of Pitreavie and Daniel Hendry of Garscube.

Apologies that there were no medals for the 60 and 70 year categories on the day. They will be sent on to the relevant athletes.
