Highgate Results

The Night of the 10ks meeting in London seldom disappoints and this time Sarah Inglis came up with a superb run for a PB of 31:39.60 over 10,000m to take fourth in the British Champs.

That’s inside the time for Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games (32:35) and also for GB and NI for the Europeans (32:20).

It also lifted the Lothian RC athlete to fifth in the Scottish all-time list, moving in above a certain Yvonne Murray.

Well done to Sarah and her coaching team.

In the same race at Highgate, Steph Pennycook clocked 33:22.59 and Mhairi Maclennan 33:33.39.

Among the men’s performance’s there were sub 30 minute runs for Adam Craig 29:51 and Sean Chalmers 29.52.

Birmingham BMC Results

In Birmingham, there was another PB over 5000 for Annabel Simpson as she again went inside the Commonwealth standard with 15.41.99 to win the top women’s race. Megan Keith was at 15:53.34 in that race.

There were a whole host of Scots competing at that BMC meet at Birmingham Uni and among the impressive performances were a 5000m for Ben MacMillan of Central AC at 13:51.22 and a 1500m run by Jack Patton of Kilbarchan AAC at 3:45.53. Megan Davies clocked 4:19.49 in her 1500m race.

In the 5k races, Ben Potrykus dipped under 14 minutes with 13:59.89 and Ryan Thomson was at 14:11.09.

Among the 800m performances, Jill Cherry ran 2:05.28 and Stephen Mackay clocked 1:51.42 and Lewis Watt 1:52.14.

There were excellent T20 runs by Owen Miller over 5000m and 1500m by Ben Sandilands and we believe these may be European bests (see Tweet above).

Over in Northern Ireland, the Belfast Milers Club meet featured a couple of strong performances by Scots.

Jenny Selman was second in the top women’s race in 4:14.25 and Kane Elliott took third in his race in 3:43.82.
