One of the biggest dates in the calendar for younger athletes is fast approaching, and clubs are reminded to get their entries in for the indoor SUPERteams event before they close at midnight on Thursday 23 January.
Taking place on Sunday 9 February at the Emirates Arena, it’s the day for U12s to work together in teams of four boys or four girls, completing a 60m sprint, shot put throw, long jump and then a 4 x 200m relay. Athletes must be aged 9 on the day of competition to compete.
Clubs can enter as many teams as they wish for this event, however, will only be guaranteed two girls’ teams and two boys’ teams. Any additional teams entered will be placed on a waiting list and if there are spaces remaining after all club entries have been processed they will be allocated accordingly. These restrictions are necessary in order to fit the events into the schedule and allow as many teams as possible to be represented on the day.
Please note: In a change for 2020, the entry process requires clubs to name pools of athletes who are eligible to compete. This ensures that all athletes turning up on the day are eligible to compete. Athletes within these pools MUST be current member of scottishathletics on the day of the event.
Athletes who are submitted without a valid membership or an out of date membership cannot be added after the closing date. Clubs do not need to confirm their final competing teams in advance: On the day of competition, clubs will select teams of 4 from the pools of athletes submitted at the point of entry.
