Arnold will be official Historian (September 2019)
scottishathletics can confirm that Arnold Black is stepping down from his role as our official Historian.
We want to firmly put on record our thanks to Arnold for numerous contributions to us as governing body.
And we are pleased Arnold will remain in his other voluntary roles including leading our Records Committee, a sub group of the Track and Field Commission, which diligently follows and acknowledges performances in their historical context.
Arnold was appointed to the Historian role more than seven years ago. He received the MBE in June 2019 for services to athletics.
During these past years he made numerous contributions to our website and some of that content remains online via the History section.
‘I want to thank Arnold for all his efforts over seven years as our official Historian,’ said chief executive Colin Hutchison.
‘His knowledge on all things Scottish athletics is second to none and that guidance has been invaluable. He now feels the time is right to step away from the official role but we are delighted he will continue as a key volunteer across a couple of other areas.
‘We fully appreciate Arnold’s support and assistance in delivering historical context, all-time rankings, Records and everything else which is so useful to many in the sport.’
