Jo Murphy and Jason Kelly in Berlin
Fast times were delivered at the World 100k Champs in Berlin – with two Scots in action for GB and NI in Germany.
Japan won the Men’s race in 6:12:10 and France leading home the Women in a new European record of 7:04:03. Both GB teams finished in fifth position.
Jo Murphy had an outstanding run to set a new PB of 7:38:10 in 14th place, which moves her to fifth on the UK all time list.
Jason Kelly set off strongly but was forced to drop out with some breathing issues caused by a recent viral infection but stayed and supported the rest of his team mates throughout the run.
Jo said: ‘After my performance out in Perth in April ,I thought my limits had been reached.
So to run what I did today has far exceeded any expectations that I had.
‘It was not all plain sailing out there but I enjoyed so much being out there competing on the world stage.’
With thanks to Jo Zakrewski
