Equality and Diversity group has three recruits

Sunday 20th May 2018

As part of our ongoing work to uphold the principles and values of equality across our sport, scottishathletics have established an Equality and Diversity Advisory Group to assist us in leading the way.

And we are delighted to confirm we have now recruited three members from a variety of backgrounds, experienced and perspectives who are committed and passionate about equality.

The Group’s remit is to provide advice and guidance on all equality matters; ensuring practical, strategic and operational support is sustained for the development and delivery of our Equality Action Plan, in addition to supporting our Equality Working Group and Board Members in relation to equality and diversity.

So we are very pleased to welcome Noanie Heffron, Xabier Cid and John Owens on board to undertake these important volunteer roles.

Besides their experience and knowledge in Equality, all three are also very familiar to athletics.

Noanieis a keen Ultra-runner, Race Director for Jedburgh Three Peaks Ultramarathon and Assistant Race Director for Highland Fling Ultramarathon.

Xabieris a level 4 UK Athletics Official who has officiated at the Commonwealth Games.

John Club President and Volunteer with Springburn Harriers
