Jaguars fifth on day one as Alyson moves fifth all-time for 200m

Glasgow Jaguars head to Derby this weekend for the second match of the 2025 campaign.

They will be looking to move into the top four after a fifth place finish in the opening match.

For many of the Glasgow Jaguars athletes it is another weekend on the move with a number having competed in Geneva, the Welsh championships and at Mannheim in recent weeks.

Fresh from her 11.69 Scottish 100m U17 Record and U20 Relay Record Kishi Aremu makes her debut in the 100m and is joined by Lucy Fraser, in PB form in Cardiff (11.76) and part of the Scottish Women’s 4x100M team, who clocked a CGQ time in Geneva.

Alyson Bell (23.01) goes in the 200m and will be hoping for good conditions and another legal CGQ mark. She is joined by Lois Garland, who has lowered her PB over 100m this season.

Owen Murphy was in PB form in Mannheim is part of a strong men’s sprint squad including Simon Okiti, who lowered his 100m PB in Cardiff and Struan Linton also in PB form over 200m this season.

In the 400m Hurdles, Bradley Francis will be hoping to avoid the tight Lane One and lower further his 51.76 PB from Eton.

In the flat 400m, Luc McLeod and Ewan Purves were both in PB form last weekend, Kyle Alexander with a fine season opener in Cardiff and Callum McKenzie sub 48 indoors are a competitive 400m squad.

With 400m hurdlers Rachel Callan and Mhairi Patience and experienced 400m runners Kelsey Stewart and Kathryn Christie the team will be looking for success in the 4×400 relays.

It has been a very encouraging start to the season for many athletes with long jumpers Hannah Wallace, Briagha Cook, Louis Whyte already in PB form and Murray Fotheringham was not far from his best in his season’s opener in Cardiff.

Triple Jumper Matilda Brockley currently sits at the top of the GB U20 rankings with a 12.44m PB with the 13.00m U20 European qualifying the target.

High jumper Alec Miller currently sits at the top of the Scottish U20 rankings with a 1.91m PB and newcomer Louis Reynolds has been in tremendous form with a 2.04m PB. Katherine Fowler (HJ) will be hoping to match her 1.70m indoor PB and Eve MacCallum (PV) to match her 3.40m indoors.

The throwers have also been in excellent form with team stalwarts Andrew Peck (Discus), Euan Urquhart (Shot) both recording early season PBs with David Lees (Javelin) and Ava Mitchell (Shot) also recording lifetime bests.

Emma McLennan goes in the 2000m Steeplechase hoping to improve on her PB set earlier this season. Carolyn Cameron (1500m) has been in fine form and will be looking to improve further on her recent PB.

Newcomers Declan Murray (800m), Glen Griffiths (1500m), Andrew Taylor (3000m), and Dylan Crawford (3000m) add strength to the middle-distance squad while Maja Thomson comes into the Women’s 800m.

Newcomer Ruth Walsh will compete in the 3000m.

Master Liam McIntyre not only makes his debut for the team but also in the Hammer while U20 Ewan Millar in his first season in athletics goes in the Triple Jump.

U20 Lucy Boules come into the team in the High Jump and Hannah Goldie makes her debut for the team in the Pole Vault.
