Logan Rees claimed a superb Home Countries XC individual title win in Leeds.

The Fife AC athlete took gold by seven seconds in a competitive Senior Men’s race in the British Cross Challenge event.

And there were medals aplenty across two cross country competition for those wearing Scotland vests.

Zara Redmond (Kilbarchan AAC) took second in the Home Countries U20 race to win the Celtic Nations XC gold and Oliver Macdonald (Giffnock) won the Celtic gold at Men’s U20 level.

Our U23 Men took team golds in the Celtic Nations race with a silver there for Angus Wright. Billy Sutherland was U17 Men silver medallist in the Celtic Nations.

There were Celtic team golds, also, at U17 Women and U20 Men level.

Logan, who was second Cross Challenge finisher in Cardiff last November , looked determined throughout, but it was Kingston who headed the field as they entered the final circuit.

With distance running down, Rees made a staggering sprint for the line up the final hill, streaking away to seal an impressive victory ahead of Kingston.

‘I was pretty content sitting with the big group and waited until it broke up a bit, so I went as late as I could, and I managed to hold on,’ said Logan,

‘I have not had a good race outside of Scotland this winter, so it was good to get one here. I am a mountain runner by trade in my youth, so I was well suited to the course today. Every year of training, the endurance is building and it is all coming together.’
