Central AC athlete Jamie Crowe took the victory in our Elite Men’s race at the Lindsays Short Course XC in Perth.

The man who won the Lindsays National XC at Falkirk in February revealed he went out hard with a determination to lead from the front after losing out in the Run and Become 5k on the road the previous week.

And not even the sheep threatening to join the race at Scone Palace could deflect his purpose at a venue which Jamie feels could certainly stage major cross country events in future.

With Jamie’s margin of victory over Sean Chalmers only two seconds, it was a more comfortable victory for Megan Keith of Inverness Harriers in the Women’s race.

The 4J Studios U20 Performer of the Year claimed victory by seven seconds from Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hounds athlete Holly Page. Morag Millar of Central AC came up with a strong run for third.

There were some good contests in the younger age groups and it was good to see a real geographical spread of clubs – despite the unfortunate absence of those in Tier 4 areas.

Nonetheless, the Lindsays Short Course XC still drew athletes from as far afield as Gala Harriers and Teviotdale Harriers in the Borders to Ross County, Peterhead and Fraserburgh.
