Spikes on track

Full programme for Coaching Conference revealed

The Emirates Arena is very much the focal point for our community this weekend with the National Coaching Conference and the scottishathletics AGM taking place.

More than 200 delegates and presenters will gather over Saturday and Sunday at the Glasgow venue for a keenly-anticipated National Coaching Conference.

The AGM takes place at 10am on Saturday morning on level five of the Emirates Arena.

We’ve been delighted with the response from the coaching community in Scotland – and beyond – to the World Class programme for the Coaching Conference.

A number of coaches to Olympians and Paralympians will be presenting including the likes of Andy Young (Laura Muir), Robert Hawkins (Callum and Derek Hawkins), Jared Deacon (Emily Diamond), Trevor Painter (Jenny Meadows) and Aston Moore (Stef Reid) and we look forward to learning from their knowledge and experience.

‘I would like to thank everyone who has signed-up for the Coaching Conference – it is always good when we see the buy-in from clubs and coaches across Scotland and we fully appreciate that support,’ said Performance Manager, Darren Ritchie.

‘The programme is a varied one across the event groups and a number of the breakout sessions are now at capacity. I’d ask coaches to stick to their chosen sessions, please, as this makes it easier for everyone involved on Saturday and Sunday.

‘On Sunday, shortly before the Conference closes, director of coaching Rodger Harkins will be announcing the short-lists for Coach of the Year awards – as we recognise the commitment and impact by our coaches. There are three categories for these awards – Performance, Development and Club – with the winners to be revealed at the Annual Awards Dinner on Saturday 29 October.’
