Clubs and volunteers are working together to create a new West District XC League.
The issue has been up for discussion over a number of years but not plans are progressing for the current winter season.
Three events have been provisionally included for the opening West District League season – at East Kilbride, Kilmarnock and Bellahouston Park in Glasgow.
Organisers have set up an online meeting this Wednesday (October 19) with club folk invited to join in the discussions.
‘We’re pleased to be able to share provisional dates for the inaugural season of the West District League,’ said Richard Leyton of Bellahouston Road Runners.
‘We aim to host three events this season, but our first date in November is currently provisional. We hope to have confirmation in due course.
‘Before we get to the dates, we’d like to invite everybody interested in the series, or with questions they’d like to ask, to a Launch event on Zoom and Q and A on Wednesday at 6.30pm.
Race Dates:
19 November, 2022 (Provisional)
Host Club: East Kilbride Athletic Club
21 January, 2023
Host club: Kilmarnock Harriers
11 February, 2023
Host club: Bellahouston Road Runners
Venue: Bellahouston park
(Note in the event 19 November cannot take place, the league will operate as a two event series, and the 11 February event will use the East Kilbride venue).
