Read our special Festive message to our Officials community from Alistair Aitchison, Convenor of the Officials Commission, and also from the scottishathletics Competitions Team, and indeed all of our staff . . .

‘Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who officiated this year. It simply wouldn’t be possible to run the Scottish events calendar without the support of our qualified Official workforce, and I know it is hugely appreciated by all the athletes as well as the wider scottishathletics team.

‘We are looking ahead to the indoor season, with January to March one of our busiest periods for events.

‘Thanks to everyone who has already signed up to officiate at these. If you haven’t got your name down yet, there’s still time to indicate your availability via the scottishathletics website: Officials’ availability – Scottish Athletics

‘November saw another successful National Officials Conference at Carnegie Conference Centre, Dunfermline.

‘We were delighted to be joined by some excellent guest speakers, including Ryan and Kirsty from SAMH, alongside a number of helpful and informative workshops.

‘Thank you to Shona and the rest of the Competition team at scottishathletics for organising another great event.

‘It is also a good time to ask you to ‘Save the Date’ for our next Officials Training Day, which will take place on Saturday 29 March. More details on that will follow in the new year.

‘Lastly, it would feel wrong to sign off without mentioning the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, which have now been confirmed.

‘While it will no doubt be a scaled back version on the events we have seen previously, it is a positive move for the sport that this special competition will take place and it will provide a fantastic home opportunity for Scottish athletes and Officials.

‘Full details of the event and how to get involved will be provided in due course.

‘I hope you all enjoy a great Festive period and I look forward to seeing you at an event in 2025.’
