The Scottish Women in Sport Awards are set to take place in Glasgow on Friday 24 November.
And we are delighted to see a number of short-listed nominees from the world of athletics.
On the shortlist for Ishga Para Athlete of the Year is our own 4J Para Athlete of the Year, Samantha Kinghorn, along with our Board member and Para athlete Jo Butterfield, in this case nominated for her achievements in curling.
Two out of the three nominations in the Cameron Commercials Pioneer in Sport category come from athletics – Scotland’s most decorated track and field athlete, Eilidh Doyle is listed, and there’s a joint nomination for Margaret Brown and Leslie Roy, who this year stepped down as our Officials Convenor and Track & Field Convenor respectively, and have given many years of service to the sport.
The Active Scotland Most Valuable Partnership award sees a shortlisting for jogscotland and SAMH. The partnership, started in 2017, has seen our recreational running groups work with the charity to promote the mental health benefits of group running, including mental health awareness training for jog leaders and other initiatives.
Caroline Johnston of Red Star AC is nominated for the UWS Volunteer of the Year award, recognising more than a decade of dedication to the development of disability sport at the club and across the West of Scotland.
