Action from the start of the Tru Wealth Scottish 10-Mile Champs (photo by Bobby Gavin)
Our Road Race Grand Prix is up and running after the Tru Wealth Scottish 10-Mile Champs last weekend.
The Tom Scott Road Races hosted the 10-Mile Champs and, after the dust had settled at Strathclyde Park, five athletes landed ‘shares’ in the GP.
There’s £4000 in prize-money on offer in total from scottishathletics (via the Road Running and Cross Country Commission) as we seek to stimulate competition in championship events.
New champions Jonny Glen of Inverclyde AC and Annabel Simpson of University of West of Scotland/Fife AC both ran times that landed A standards. Jonny won in 49:44 and Annabel set a new Course Record with 54:10.
There were B shares in the Men’s race for silver medallist Mike Christoforou of Cambuslang Harriers (at 50:38) and Dougie Selman of Corstorphine AAC (at 50:48).
And there was a B share for the silver medallist in the Women’s race, Fionnuala Ross of Shettleston Harriers after a run of 56:35.

When the full Road Race GP is concluded, the ‘shares’ are divided up to find how much is allocated to each athlete.
The next event in the GP Series is the Tru Wealth Scottish 5K Champs.
These take place within the Sri Chinmoy event at Silverknowes on Friday 6 May 2022 (the event is now fully subscribed, with a waiting list in operation).
Looking back to the 10-Mile Champs, we are pleased to share (above) start-line footage from the Tom Scott event. This content was made available to us by Troy Morgan – thank you.
Also on our You Tube channel, there’s a full album of all Bobby Gavin’s photos from the event. Check out Bobby’s event on www.thatonemoment.co.uk
