The Chris Smith Memorial Fund is offering great support to individual athletes and athletics across disciplines around Britain – with a number of Scots among the beneficiaries.
The Fund was set up following the tragic passing of former GB international hill runner Chris, who started off in athletics at Aberdeen AAC.
In fact, Aberdeen AAC as his first club was one of the opening beneficiaries of the Chris Smith Memorial Fund but now the list is lengthening as applications are received and considered.
We’re pleased to note there are another 14 in the latest batch of grants and those include cross country, track, FrameRunning, coaching and ultra running.
‘Thanks very much to Scottish Athletics for your support and for promoting the Fund,’ said Lindsay Smith.
‘Word is spreading and we’re getting more and more applicants every time – and many of those are coming in from Scotland.
‘The aim of the Fund is very much to help any running-related activity primarily for children or young people.’
