What a stunning finish to exceptional seasons for Laura Muir and Jake Wightman in America on Sunday!

The star duo made it a memorable a Scottish double at the prestigious 5th Avenue Mile in New York – after competing in Diamond League finals in Switzerland last Thursday night.

Laura won the Women’s race in a superb 4:14.8, the fastest female time in 41 years of the event. Fellow Scot Jemma Reekie came home in fourth place in 4:18.3.

American Nikki Hiltz, with 4:17.4 was second and fellow countrywoman, Eleanor Fulton, was just ahead of Reekie at 4:18.0 for third place.

Moments later, Jake successfully defended the title he won last year to take the finish line in 3:49.6 and complete his own amazing 2022.

Jake also won it in 2018 so took his successes to three as he came home clear of his GB and NI team-mate, Welsh athlete Jake Heyward. After recovering from taking a slip in the rain, Josh Kerr was 10th in 3:52.

Huge congratulations to both Laura and Jake and to their coaches, Andy Young and Geoff Wightman.
