We’ve had a great response so far to National XC events at Cumbernauld and Bellahouston, with the Lindsays Cross Country Season off and running.

Now the time is right for athletes, coaches, club officials and parents to submit submitting entries for the forthcoming District XC Championships – as closing dates approach on November 22 for the North and East and November 24 for the West.

Once again there are three events taking place across the North, East and West of the country and entries are being accepted by post for each of these fixtures.

We would urge clubs to get involved in these regional events and commit to competition ahead of the Inter-District fixture in Edinburgh in the New Year and the National XC in Falkirk in February.

The District races are the primary trial events for selection for the Inter-Districts at Holyrood Park on January 10.

And they count as the second part of the Cross Country Grand Prix which carries £4000 of individual prize-money. The standings after the first event are now online.

First up is the North District XC Champs at Dores, Inverness, on Saturday 29 November.

The closing date for entries for the North fixture is Saturday 22 November and entries are by post to Sophie Dunnett. Check out the fixture online to see entry forms for each of the age-groups for Dores.

Camperdown Park in Dundee hosts the East District XC Championships and it will take place on Saturday 6 December.

The closing date for entries for the East fixture is Saturday 22 November and entries are by post to Alex Jackson. Check out the fixture online to see entry forms for each of the age-groups for Dundee

Linwood is the venue for the West District XC Championships and it will also take place on Saturday 6 December.

The closing for entries for the West fixture is first post on Monday 24 November and entries are by post to Graham Sword. Check out the fixture online to see entry forms for each of the age-groups for Linwood.

All at scottishathletics are extremely grateful to those clubs involved in hosting these events and our District officials, volunteers and marshals who are helping out – both in advance and on the day itself at the three venues. Thanks.

Central AC – National Relays success

*We covered the National XC Relays with help from VincoSport and North Lanarkshire Council – with footage being hosted on our YouTube channel. We call it scottishathletics TV.

So far, there have been just over 4000 views for the five films from Cumbernauld with the highlights package complementing coverage of each of the four races. Check out those five videos
