Picked for Scotland: 39 head for Scotstoun as Glasgow 2026 team named
scottishathletics were delighted to help Team Scotland with an athletics team photo shoot last week for Glasgow 2026.
A full team of 39 athletes has now been revealed and the Commonwealth Games countdown is very much underway.
Across our social media channels over the coming weeks, we plan to share preview content including photos, video interviews and written features.
In fact, we are already off and running in that regard!
Below we share some of our interviews from the Team Scotland photo shoot and some of the images (by James Williamson)
*Sprinter Alyson Bell tells us how, a decade or so ago, she used to finish ‘dead last’ in cross country.
*Brodie Young speaks about how landing European U23 bronze in the Men’s 400m in Norway last summer gave him the confidence for a Team Scotland selection bid
*Hear from Combined Events pick Allie Routledge on her late run to being picked to compete at heptathlon – a scenario she herself did not envisage a couple of years ago
*Rebecca Grieve is with our Mixed 4x400m Relay squad for the Games and speaks about her move from Edinburgh/Dunfermline to University of New Mexico
Jake Wightman and Neil Gourley were pre-selected last autumn – along with Megan Keith – after World Champs performance.
Jake would love to add to his two Commonwealth Games medals while Glaswegian Neil is hoping for a clear run at Scotstoun after injury issues.
