Eilish reclaims European 10K Record in Valencia

Commonwealth Games ambassador Eilish McColgan has confirmed she’s making plans to race at Glasgow 2026.

The Women’s 10,000m reigning champion, after a night to remember in Birmingham four years ago, is an Ambassador for the Glasgow Games.

Now Eilish has announced her intention to defend that gold – if her recovery from the London Marathon in April runs smoothly.

London Marathon organisers have confirmed the Scot is in the Elite Women’s field for this year’s race.

Eilish told journalists: ‘The 10k, half and marathon are my absolute focus, using those races building up to London and other major marathons hopefully in the future as well.

‘But it’s hard to say no, though, to Glasgow – because it is Glasgow.

‘If it had been anywhere else in the world, if it was back in the Gold Coast again, I probably wouldn’t be there.

‘In all honesty, I wouldn’t have bothered doing it because it is a tight turnaround to go from marathon training and then back into 10k again.

‘But having just run 30:08, the fastest I’ve ever run, I feel pretty confident that I can go sub-30. So it’s hard to turn down.’
