Callum Hawkins has set a new Scottish Best for ten miles on the road.

The double Olympian from Kilbarchan AAC was in action on Sunday at the Kenny Phillips Memorial race on the island of Cumbrae.

And Callum’s ferry trip and solo run paid off handsomely with a superb 46:44 time from the Kilbarchan AAC athlete eclipsing his own mark for ten miles. Callum had run 47:01 in Holland some eight years ago.

Good signs ahead of his next marathon assignment which is coming up in Valencia on December 7.

Well done to Callum and his coach Robert.

Four Scots finished in the top 25 at the Copenhagen Half Marathon.

The event in Denmark has a reputation for fast times and so it proved with the race won in a sub one hour time.

To Scot home was Sean Chalmers of Aberdeen AAC at 63:23. He was followed by Andrew Fyfe of Edinburgh AC at 63:29.

Kilbarchan AAC’s Lewis Hannigan made a fine debut at the distance with 63:42 and Max Milarvie (VP-Glasgow) finished in 63:43.

Well done to the athletes and their coaches and clubs.
