15 athletes selected for National Athletics Academy

Tuesday 20th October 2026

We are delighted to welcome 15 new athletes to our National Athletics Academy.

The two-year development programme is designed to support talented track and field athletes by building the knowledge, skills and competencies they need to progress towards senior-level competition.

The new cohort join the 16 athletes from last year’s intake, who are now entering their second year in the Academy.

All athletes will come together in Stirling on 15 November for their first Development Day.

The day will feature a series of educational sessions delivered by our partners at the Scottish Institute of Sport, providing valuable opportunities to learn, develop and prepare for the next stage of their athletic journeys.

Meanwhile, nine athletes graduating from the programme this year will continue to benefit from support and guidance from scottishathletics over the coming years through their designated points of contact and our Event Group Projects.

scottishathletics National Talent Manager, Allan Hamilton, said:

“We’re delighted to welcome our new cohort of athletes to the Academy and look forward to supporting them as they continue their development over the next two years. Each athlete has already shown great commitment to their sport and achieved some fantastic milestones.

“The Academy provides an excellent opportunity for them to build on that progress, develop their skills and knowledge, and take the next steps towards senior-level competition. We’re excited to work alongside the athletes and their support teams throughout this journey.”
