Record-breaking entry ready for Lindsays Short Course XC
Not last century but the one before that.
That’s when cross country was first featured across Lanark Racecourse as the venue staged the very first National XC Champs way back in 1886.
And now all those entered for the Lindsays Short Course XC – all 1511 of you – can follow in the spike-marks of history by racing on Saturday.
It is a Record entry for this event which has grown so much over the past decade or so and there are huge fields for the two main U20/Senuior/Masters races.
Kirkcaldy was our host venue last year and this time Law and District AAC are helping out at Lanark where the course if flat and likely to be fast – unless rain over the final couple of days leads to more mud.
Key info for Saturday on Events section website
There are all sorts of aspects at stake this weekend with the Short Course XC medals for individuals and teams of course paramount.
But there are a number of other elements which include (in no particular order):
*Cross Country Team Challenge for our Seniors as clubs battle for a £250 top prize in the men’s and women’s divisions
*Lindsays Trophy points for all clubs with every finisher counting towards the tallies in our new format of three divisions
*Individual Cross Country Grand Prix points for Senior athletes.
*Last chance to impress for Scotland vests at the Euro Cross Trials and British Cross Challenge races at Liverpool later this month.
Lindsays Trophy – our first tables for new three divisions format
With those very big numbers involved we ask you to leave plenty of time to travel to Lanark, get parked and to declare for your race.
Please read carefully the travel advice on the Event Section page.
The race schedule (with declarations closing 30 minutes before the start of each race) is as follows:
U15 Girls – 12 noon
U15 Boys – 12.20pm
U17 Women – 12.40pm
U17 Men – 1.05pm
U20/Senior/Masters Women – 1.30pm
