Top performances around the globe by elite Scottish athletes has already been a significant feature during 2022.

And the string of superb results showed no sign of slowing over the current weekend.

Let’ start with a new Scottish National Record for 200m Indoor Men (subject to the ratification processes).

Adam Clayton clocked an impressive 21.07 run for a new PB and to break the 21.14 mark held by Cameron Tindle.

Adam was first in the race in our video below and was placed fifth in a timed final in the event in the United States.

The Giffnock North AC athlete, who is coached by Ryan McAllister, is studying in America and clearly continues to make strong progress!

*Praise Olatoke clocked 21.17 at a different American meet and that’s third on the all-time indoor list for Men’s 200m.

Neil Gourley was another Giffnock North athlete in superb form in the States.

Neil won the David Hemery Invitational 1500m in Boston in a world leading time of 3.35.32,to set setting himself up for the Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham next week and the British Championships the following week.

It gives the Scot a World Indoors qualifying time and was the third fastest time indoors by a British athlete.

Elsewhere in the States, Josh Kerr clocked 1:46.64 for an 800m PB and that takes him to third in the all-time list indoors with only Tom McKean and Brian Whittle now ahead of the Edinburgh AC athlete.

And Eilish McColgan posted a new  PB in a 5k race in Dubai as she came home in a superb 14.48 minutes.

That’s a time which equalled Paula Radcliffe‘s British best on the roads for 5k (but is second on Scottish all-time lists taking in a Beth Potter run at 14.41 which didn’t receive Record validation).

Great to see all these athletes in superb form in Commonwealth Games year and well done to all and their coaches.
