Grangemouth preview and key info
Everyone at scottishathletics is saddened by the passing of Her Majesty the Queen earlier this week and we send our thoughts and condolences to the Royal Family.
Following careful consideration, and after reviewing the Scottish Government guidance on the period of mourning, we have decided to host as planned our National Track Relays at Grangemouth (on Saturday 10 September).
To pay our respects and mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, we will hold a minute’s silence at that start of the event. That mark of respect will be repeated at the start of the afternoon session.
Athletes are welcome to pay their respects, if they desire, by wearing a black ribbon when competing. Club vests should be worn.
We would stress this was an extremely difficult decision which may lead to contrasting responses, which we do understand.
One consideration was that we could see no realistic opportunity to reschedule in 2022 the final track and field event of the season.
