The first scottishathletics Event Specific Series is well underway for the 2018 season – with a remarkable 3641 performances already scored!

We’ve been delighted with this pilot grand prix so far as we seek to bring together a number of Event Specific meetings and foster club competition in a positive way for athlete development.

Remarkably, 87 clubs are now represented by at least one athlete on the various tables from Inverness Harriers with 91 competitors right down to a series of clubs with one athlete mentioned including Penicuik Harriers, West End Road Runners from Glasgow and South Uist and Eriskay AC.

That reflects the fact that the Event Specific Series is taking in events across the length and breadth of Scotland and indeed the first events scored were in Shetland and Orkney in March.

So far, 808 male athletes have been involved and 764 females and it is great that these performances are being logged centrally by the scottishathletics Events team.

Tables across all the Event Specifics groups, and various age categories, are online and these take in events up to and including the Monument Mile Meet organised by Central AC in Stirling last week.

The next events we plan to add to the scores are three from the Shetland AAC Friday Night Series and the Inverness Harriers open graded meeting on June 2.

Coming up over the forthcoming weekend are events in Livingston and Aberdeen which will feed into the overall picture, too.

Throws GP at Livingston

Nick Percy is among the entrants for this Saturday’s event at Craigswood as the Scottish Record holder in the discus warms up for the British Champs in Birmingham the following weekend.

This is the third of our Throws GP and thanks to all those who are supporting these events – with our scottishathletics Officials again ensuring that these events happen.
