XC Sessions this winter (our story from September with a number of dates)

Group cross country sessions around the country are well underway for winter 2022-23 and it is good to see these taking place in three areas.

The North, Glasgow and now Edinburgh are all now involved and scottishathletics are always keen to support clubs, athletes and coaches working together towards the goal of raising overall standards.

And this weekend sees more sessions taking place – with our thanks to those organising these.

Saturday sessions will take place at Holyrood Park and athletes should be warmed up and ready to go for a first rep at 10.30am.

All coaches are welcome for informal networking, sharing ideas, etc. Athletes from U17 age group and above.

Saturday 12 November:

6-8 sets of: 3 mins (60 sec rec), 2 mins (2 mins rec) (athletes regroup after each set)

The Glasgow Athletics Association have again set up a series of sessions in the West which are geared towards preparations for the Lindsays National XC at Falkirk in February.

This Saturday’s session is at Tollcross Park.

Athletes should be warmed up and ready for a first rep at 10.30am. Sessions open to athletes U15 and above. Session is: 4-8 x 4 minutes with 2 minutes recovery.

Full details on the GAA website.

North District

North sessions take place at Grant Park in Forres and there is an east venue option at Inverurie Sports Centre, Inverurie, too.

Both sessions start with a 10.30am first rep so be there in plenty of time to do a good warm up. Suitable for athletes all abilities and from U17 upwards.

Session details: Maximum session of 2 x 5min, 2 x 4min, 2 x 3min, 2 x 2min, 2 x 1min.
