XC Sessions this Saturday in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Forres

Wednesday 5th January 2022

The next Glasgow XC Session is coming up on Saturday (January 8) and returns to Pollok Park in Glasgow following the holiday period session at Bellahouston Park.

Athletes of all ages from U15 and above are invited to attend at the Netherpollok playing fields at Pollok (close to the Burrell Collection/Pollok parkrun finish).

The session is: 5-10 minutes tempo with one minute recovery; 10 x one minute (with one minute recovery); 5-10 minutes recovery.

Athletes should be warmed up and ready for the first rep at 10.30am.

It’s been great to see big turnout of clubs at these sessions this winter and thanks to Glasgow Athletics Association for organising.https://twitter.com/Newton_Road/status/1472196991362940933

There’s a Grampian XC Session taking place on Saturday, too, at Balgownie Playing Fields in Aberdeen.

Aberdeen AAC coach Aaron Odentz is organising the session and extends an invitation to athletes at all ages and stages from U13 and above to come along and train together. It is also a good opportunity for coaches to meet informally.

The session involves up to eight reps of three minutes each, with 90 seconds of recovery. Athletes should be warmed up and ready for the first rep at 10am.

We would urge clubs, athletes and coaches to support these sessions.

There’s also a North XC Session now arranged for this Saturday.

That one is at Grant Park, Forres, and athletes are asked to be warmed up and ready to start their first rep for 11am.

Athletes (from U15 and above), coaches and clubs are invited to support the North XC session and hopefully benefit from working together ahead of the Inter-Districts the following week and the Lindsays National XC on February 26.
