World 1500m Champion Jake Wightman went back to where it all started last week, with a visit to his club Edinburgh AC, at the newly-refurbished Meadowbank sports centre.

As well as taking a look at the new indoor and outdoor athletics facilities, Jake did a Q&A with young athletes and their parents, signed autographs, posed for photographs, and passed around that World Champs medal from Oregon.

It came on the eve of the official opening of Meadowbank, which welcomed clubs back to training in the summer after a £47 million rebuild.

Jake said: ‘It’s very different, it’s an amazing facility and I’m trying to piece together what bits of the old stadium could still be compared to this.

‘Edinburgh has been waiting a long time for this to finish and it’s great that it’s finally here and looking so good.’
