It’s Volunteers’ Week, an important point on the calendar where we stop to say a huge ‘Thank you’ to all the volunteers who make our sport happen.
So many people give freely of their time to make athletics in Scotland possible – as coaches, officials, club committee members, parent helpers, event marshals, and in other capacities.
We appreciate every single one of them, and not only the time, but also the passion, enthusiasm and care, they each put into their roles.
Chief Executive of scottishathletics, Colin Hutchison, said: ‘We are always aware of the huge contribution made by the many volunteers in the sport, and it’s only right that we take the time in Volunteers’ Week to say ‘Thank you’.
‘For all the hours and the effort, in wind, rain, and sunshine – all the time working with others or planning at home; the scheduled work and the unexpected extra tasks that can crop up; for all your professionalism and dedication – thank you.’
‘Why I would recommend being an Official to anyone’ – Joyce Wighton
