Memorable medal moments for our U17 and U15 athletes at Lanark

Rachel Caves and Daibhidh Kinnaird have already announced their names to the cross country community with podium moments over the past couple of years.

The duo enhanced those reputations and took another step in their development with U17 title wins at the Lindsays Short Course XC in Lanark.

Opponents were left to dread those clad in red as the Harmeny AC and Cambuslang Harriers athletes delivered dominant wins in the U17 Women and U 17 Men races.

Rachel was followed home by Millie Gairn as the Airdrie Harriers athlete took silver. Behind those tow, the battle for third in that race was the tightest of the day as Nancy Corrie of Harmeny took the bronze (with Cerys Wright of Lasswade finishing in the same time).

In the U17 Women’s team race, there were golds for harmony AC from silver medallists Inverclyde AC. Pitreavie AAC took home the bronxze medals.

Cambuslang’s Kinnaird won the U17 Men’s gold from Calum Dick of Giffnock and Rory Macmillan of Falkirk Victoria harriers.

Macmillan guided his Falkirk pals to the team golds with Giffnock in second and Cambuslang in third.

The U15 Girls was the opening race of the day with a strong turnout. In the end, there was a win for Lola Finnigan of North Ayrshire in a close finish with Emily Taylor of Aberdeen AAC. Lucy Tonner of Giffnock took bronze.

Giffnock won the team golds here with Dundee Hawkhill and East Kilbride AC completing the podium.

And there was more joy for Dundee in the U15 Boys as Harry Robinson took gold. Luca Anderson of Anster Haddies was the silver medallist and third went to Toby Comer of Edinburgh AC.

Giffnock enjoyed a second set of team golds in this U15Boys race with silver for Falkirk Victoria and third for Edinburgh AC.
