Head for Strathclyde Park: Scottish 10-Mile medals on the line

Friday 29th March 2024

Preview by Race Organiser, Bobby Hill

The Scottish 10-Mile Champs are set to take place at Strathclyde Park on Sunday – with excitement rising ahead of the battle for medals.

It’s the centre-piece of an historic 60th Tom Scott Memorial Road Races hosted by Law and District AAC.

The 10 Mile race sold out all 500 places by mid-February, the earliest ever sell-out in the event’s storied history.

The contest for the historic Tom Scott Trophy is always hotly contested, and the signs for this year look good, on what will be the event’s ‘diamond anniversary’.

In the women’s field, the leading pack is expected to contain the 2022 champion and Women’s Course Record holder Annabel Simpson (University of the West of Scotland), Virginie Barrand and Nicola MacDonald (Metro Aberdeen), Meredith Reid (Inverclyde), Emily Carroll (Shettleston Harriers), Sara Green (Gala Harriers) and Emily McNicol (Law & District).

In the men’s field, some of those with potential to contend include Jamie Crowe (Central), Lewis Hannigan (Kilbarchan), Ryan Thomson and Michael Christoforou (Cambuslang Harriers), Lewis Rodgers (Fife), Jack Heathwood (Bellahouston Harriers), Adam Baker (Moray RR), John Bell (Inverclyde), Kris Jones (Dundee Hawkhill Harriers), Dermot Cummins (Corstorphine) and Sean Chalmers (Aberdeen).

Races start at 10am and all entrants are asked to make themselves familiar with arrangements for the day.
