It certainly felt like a record-breaking Indoor Season for Scottish athletes – and here’s the proof.

The scottishathletics Track and Field Commission met last week to analyse and ratify a series of performance and, as a consequence, no fewer than 25 performances were acknowledged as Scottish records in one form or another.

Lynsey Sharp, Chris O’Hare and Cameron Tindle set National records and there were Native bests achieved by Andrew Butchart, Laura Muir and Steph Twell on the same day at the Glasgow Grand Prix on February 20.

In addition to those elite performances, records ranged from U13 sprints to U15 triple jump to Senior club relays to U17 long jump.

Giffnock North AAC can now reflect upon some very fine achievements by National Academy duo, Alessandro Schenini and Erin Wallace. Schenini has taken the Scottish U17 long jump record to 7.09 while Wallace now has marks against her name at 1500m and 800m.

Record lists for Scottish athletics are hosted on the SATS website. All the relevant additions have been made to the lists and they can be found online

Please note at the foot of the list we’ve added some more guidance notes about records and performances which are achieved in Mixed Race situations and Open Gradeds.

Mixed Races and Open Graded Competition

For senior and U20 performances, the rules followed by British Athletics will be adhered to. Therefore, no performances set in mixed races will be acceptable for records.

For U17, U15 and U13 performances, performances set in mixed races will be acceptable for records. However, in open graded competition, the rules for the U13 and U15 age-groups must be followed. This means that no U13 performance will be accepted as a record if there are U17, U20 or senior athletes in the field; and no U15 performance will be accepted as a record if there are U20 or senior athletes in the field.
