Team Scotland athletes will grace a state-of-the-art new track at Scotstoun Stadium when they do battle for medals at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The investment will ensure a world class, high-performance surface for the elite athletes when the action starts on Monday 27 July.

A major upgrade at Scotstoun will not only benefit Glasgow 2026 athletes, but it will also be gifted to the city, leaving a legacy from the Games at this important athletics facility operated by Glasgow Life.

Tickets remain on sale for athletics sessions and there are almost 60 medal events in total – including 16 in Para.

The new trackMONDO Sportflex Super X 720™ is the most technologically advanced track surface in the world.

It is softer, with elliptical-profile air cells that return energy to the athlete more efficiently, helping improve performance. It was first pioneered at the Beijing 2008 Olympics which staged four world records and has been further improved.

Team Scotland’s selection includes Commonwealth champions Eilish McColgan and Laura Muir and Paralympic champions Ben Sandilands and Owen Miller.

Team England will bring a strong group including heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson and 800m star Georgia Hunter-Bell. Top Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson and top Kenyans World Champions Lilian Odira, Faith Cherotich and Timothy Cheruiyot are also entered.

DYNAMIK, a leading sports surfacing specialist, is an Official Provider of Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and an Official Supporter of Team Scotland. DYNAMIK will also supply temporary 3×3 Basketball and 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball, and Netball flooring.

Glasgow 2026 Chief Executive Phil Batty OBE, said: ‘Scotstoun Stadium is set to be a real focal point for Glasgow 2026. There will be an electric atmosphere at Scotstoun Stadium, given the calibre and scale of the athletics competition taking place there.

‘The return of the Commonwealth Mile will be one of the must-see moments of the Games. Our investment will not only provide world-class facilities for the Commonwealth’s leading athletes, but it will also create a local legacy, strengthening opportunities for grassroots athletics post-Games. We can’t wait to see Scotstoun Stadium come alive and host brilliant sporting moments.

scottishathletics Chief Executive, Colin Hutchison, said: ‘The installation of the new track at Scotstoun Stadium marks a significant milestone in the preparation for Glasgow 2026 and we are extremely grateful for the investment being made.
