Great Stirling XC 2019 Inter District Start Lists

Laura and Jamie picked by GB for Stirling

Scotland will field a strong team in the 4 x 1.5K International Mixed Relay race at the Great Stirling XC.

The event is taking place on Saturday 12 January in Stirling following the move from previous home at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh.

And scottishathletics are pleased to confirm our selections – with Scotland taking on GB, America and Europe in the 4 x 1.5K International Relay.

Two women and two men make up the teams for this race, which is scheduled for 2.35pm as the last event of the day at the Great Stirling XC.

Scotland Mixed Relay team selection

Sol Sweeney (Perth Strathtay/Glasgow Uni Hare and Hounds)

Mhairi Hendry (VP-Glasgow)

Adam Craig (Inverclyde AC)

Steph Pennycook (Fife AC/Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hounds)

Congratulations to these four athletes and their families and coaches on their selections – and to the clubs involved in their development over the years.

Sol, Mhairi and Steph have all raced in the Mixed Relay in recent years but it is a first selection for Scotland for this particular event for Adam Craig, the Inverclyde athlete who is back in Scotland this season following college in America and who won the Great Scottish Run 10K in Glasgow and the Abbey Dash 10K in Leeds earlier this winter.

With Laura Muir and Jamie Williamson named in the main GB team for the Mixed Relay, it means there will be six Scottish athletes involved in this race.

There’s a timetable for the full Great Stirling XC programme now on our Events section page
