It is with sadness that we report on the passing of two scottishathletics Officials.
We join with the community across our sport in sending our sympathy with the family and friends of Molly Wilmoth and Andy Currie.
Volunteers make athletics in Scotland happen on a weekly and annual basis and both were stalwarts in this regard.
Molly (Danny’s wife) was an athlete and an integral figure at Springburn Harriers and the Scottish Veteran Harriers Club.
She officiated in both track and field as well as cross country for a long number of years prior to Covid. Molly was a recipient of our Honorary Life Membership.
As one friend told us: ‘Molly was always there in all weathers from before the 1980s right up to the years before the pandemic.’
On similar lines, Andy was a Field Official from Glasgow who officiated at the 1986 Commonwealth Games.
Andy was a member of Shettleston Harriers Ladies when his daughters competed in the 80s and 90s. He also helped with Glasgow AC and Red Star AC. Andy also had a role with Glasgow Live Active, taking people with learning disabilities for fitness sessions
