Extra places for Tru Wealth Scottish 10k Champs – but no marathon now

Monday 2nd May 2022

Enter Roon the Toon

The Tru Wealth Scottish 10k Champs are coming up in Kilmarnock in June.

And although the Roon the Toon capacity of 1500 athletes was reached last week, a further 200 places have now been made available following discussions between organisers Kilmarnock Harriers and their local partners.

Those slots are starting to be taken up so, if you want to compete in the National Championships over 10k on Sunday 12 June, then go to the link above.

There are also complimentary places for elite athletes who have run certain time standards over the past two years:

Men: Sub 31 minutes; Women: Sub 36 minutes

Those who meet that criteria should email admin@roonthetoon.com for their free place.

Roon the Toon is part of the Tru Wealth Road Race Championship Series organised by the Road Running and Cross Country Commission for 2022.

Unfortunately, the Commission has reluctantly decided that there will be no Tru Wealth Scottish Marathon Championships this year.

The Stirling Marathon, which had been due to take place in May, was originally afforded championship status for 2022.

Since the Stirling event was cancelled, the Commission has actively explored alternative marathon options but, with conflicting dates one issue, it has now been decided there will be no marathon championship for 2022.

The Road Race GP will now be contested across four races – with the Tru Wealth Scottish 5k Champs coming up next this Friday at Silverknowes.
