scottishathletics can confirm that the 4J Studios National Open Series event due to take place on Saturday 9 January is now cancelled.
The Emirates Arena had been due to stage the event but it has now fallen victim to the inevitable consequences of additional Covid-19 restrictions announced by the Scottish Government.
With the whole of the country moving to Tier 4 restrictions from Boxing Day for three weeks, travel restrictions and rules on gatherings ensured the event could not take place.
scottishathletics would like to thank all those who had entered for January 9 and supported the 4 J Studios National Open Series.
We will now work on refunding all those entries in due course.
scottishathletics appreciate and understand frustrations around event-planning during that pandemic and we thank members for your continued patience.
The next 4J Studios National Open Series events are planned for Saturday 23 January and Sunday 24 January.
Entries for those two days do not open until Monday 11 January and hopefully the picture is clearer then for late-January scheduled events. We will of course make announcements about January 11 entries opening nearer the time.

After the Scottish government announcement for Level 4 restrictions from the 26th December this is just a reminder to the @scotathletics framework for safe athletics. Please note that even for U/18s the advice is stay local to train only and for all no more than groups of 8. pic.twitter.com/yhrP5l3NPl

Clubs and groups are advised that from Saturday (26 December) all athletics activity should be happening locally.
There should be no travel between local authorities – even for athletes aged U18. Group activity should be limited to eight athletes.
Check the documents on our Covid-19 section page.
