The Scottish Cross Country Grand Prix is up and running with athletes to share £4000 in prize-money.

Finishing positions at the Lindsays Short Course XC at Kirkcaldy earlier this month dictate the standings after round one.

Round two is coming up next Saturday when the Lindsays District XC Champs are staged at three venues – with the East at Stirling, the West at Erskine and the North at Elgin.

In the Women’s division, the current leader is Nancy Scott of Edinburgh AC on 50 points followed by Shettleston’s Lynn McKenna on 43 and Morag Millar of Central AC on 36 points.

Completing the top five in the women are Kirsty Walker of Edinburgh AC (33) and Millie McClelland-Brooks of Inverclyde AC (30).

In the Men’s division, the current leader is Ben Potrykus of Inverclyde AC with 50 points followed by Central AC’s Jamie Crowe on 43 and third-placed Aidan Thompson of Central Ac on 36 points.

Completing the top five in the men are Andrew McGill of Cambuslang Harriers (33) and Scott Stirling of Falkirk Victoria Harriers (30).

Next weekend’s Lindsays District XC events will mark the halfway stage as athletes chase a slice of £2000 in each division.

The Inter-District XC in Glasgow in January and the Lindsays National XC in Falkirk in February complete the series.
