Jax Thoirs is awaiting confirmation on another Scottish pole vault record – after clearing 5.61m at Grangemouth last midweek.
And the Team Scotland member hopes to take his good form into Hampden this forthcoming weekend as he savours an appearance in the Glasgow Diamond League meeting.
Jax was disappointed with his 5.25m effort at the Sainsbury’s British Champs in Birmingham but duly produced a PB indoors at Grangemouth.
‘It was a long night in the pole vault because I think the competition started at 1.80m and I came in at 5m and took it on from there,’ said Jax.
‘I was pleased to get over at 5.61 because it was a big improvement on Birmingham.
‘Now I’m competing at Hampden in the Diamond League and I can’t wait. Just being there ahead of the Commonwealth Games will be great and I’ve heard good things about the way the stadium is set up although I’ve not been there myself as yet.’
