Glasgow Jaguars claimed a solid fifth place finish in the final fixture of the National Athletics League in Birmingham.

The club duly finished a fine overall fourth in the League, equal on league points with Birchfield but with fewer match points. Scrutiny of results is ongoing.

Hannah Wallace recorded her first win in the NAL in the Long Jump (5.99m) to gain maximum points and there was a fine second place for Briagha Cook (5.51m) in the B event.

Briagha had a very successful day with second in the B 100MH (14.45) with Erin Campbell fifth in the A event (14.64). Slick change-overs secured a fine second in the sprint relay.

Rounding nicely into form for the Scottish Championships, Lucy Fraser finished in an excellent third in the A 100 (11.96) while Rachel Callan was tantalisingly close to her lifetime best with a strong run of 60.86 for third in the A 400MH.

Maya Stewart gained excellent points finishing second in the B event (64.58).

The points continued to come in with a fine third for Beth Ansell in the A 800m (2.09.26) and an excellent victory in the 3000m A race (9.42.27) with Kirsty Purcell third in the B event (10.20.90).

Carolyn Cameron was second in the B1500m (4.37.89) with Caitlin Purcell running g strongly for fifth in the A event (4.36.59).

Kathryn Christie finished fourth in the A 400m (55.03) in a strong field and Kelsey Stewart had a fine run of 55.66 for second in the B event.

Kathryn, Kelsey, Rachel and Anise McAuley Orr brought home the baton for second in the 4x400m relay with Kathryn recording a 53.9 split.

Kathryn Fowler (1.67m) and Amy Davis (1.62m) were in good form in the high jump and both had good attempts at lifetime bests and finished well up the field and it was third for Kiera Maxwell (42.24) in the discus.

The standard of competition is exceptionally high in the men’s events and wins and top three placings are very hard to achieve but Bera Ajala continued to impress with a fine victory (15.22) in the Triple Jump.

Bradley Francis finished  third in the 400m H (51.37) and Andrew Peck was third in the discus (51.27). Ewan Purves was second in the B 800m (1.57.43) with Sam Brown a solid fourth in the A event (1.58.70) in a tactical race.

Mark Herbert Ruiz recorded a PB in the pole vault (4.62m) for an excellent fourth in blustery conditions.

As always, every point counted and it is huge thanks to the athletes, who have competed for the team this season and to the Officials, who support the team.

All involved have shown huge commitment, juggling studies, work and at times challenging travel arrangements.

Huge thanks are due also to those, who have made it all happen from organising travel, selecting and managing the team, transporting equipment, dealing with finance, ensuring eligibility of athletes to promoting the team on social media and superb photos.

The support of Glasgow Life, scottishathletics and sponsorship from Joma remain key to Glasgow Jaguars and the team are indebted to them with another season in the Premiership in 2026 secure.
