Scotland land three individual medals in 2021

Scotland plays host to the Senior Home International for hill running and the trials for the GB and NI team at the European Off-Road Running Championships (previously the European Mountain Running Championships) this weekend.

In the inaugural event, both Junior and Senior athletes have the opportunity to represent Britain in an uphill only event and in the classic up and down event.

Ben Lomond hosts the uphill only trial on Friday 20 May. Senior athletes will climb to the summit whilst the juniors race to 600m.

In both of these trial events, there will be a strong cohort of Scottish athletes seeking selection.

The Senior Home International is incorporated into the up and down trial, which takes place in Alva on Sunday 22 May.

The Senior race is over 18km with 960m ascent/descent over the tops of the Ochils, starting from above Alva. The Junior trial is two laps and covers 5.3km with 370m.

It is also the trial for Scotland’s U18 Mountain Running Cup Team, where athletes born in 2005 and 2006 are racing to represent Scotland in Italy in June.

We’re delighted to name very strong Scotland teams as athletes chase GB and NI vests.

Congratulations to all those selected to represent Scotland at the SHI in Alva.
