Picked for GB: Kirsty and Sasha selected for trail race in Slovenia

Two Scottish athletes will race for GB and NI at the European Off Road Champs this summer.

Sasha Chepelin and Kirsty Oldham have been selected for the 52km Trail Race at the event,

They will join the British team for races in Slovenia on June 5-7.

UK Athletes selected the top two athletes from men’s and women’s race at the trial event in the Lake District.

Carnethy athlete Sasha and Dundee Hawkhill Harriers athlete Kirsty were then among the discretionary selections.

Congratulations to both athletes, their families, coaches and clubs on being picked for GB and NI. Sasha is coached by Sophie Dunnett.

The trail race will take place over 52km in the mountains of Slovenia with a 2450m ascent and descent. Starting in the town of Kamnik, athletes will follow the Kamniška Bistrica River, passing the Eco Resort en route to Stahovica. The final kilometre and a half will guide runners through the town park and across a narrow bridge over the Kamniška Bistrica River to the finish line.

The Novuna GB and NI teams for the Uphill and the Up-and-Down disciplines will be announced in May.
