Jemma Reekie cruised into the Women’s 800m semi-finals at the World Indoors today with a fine heat victory.
The Scot clocked an impressive 1:59.45 to take the win in Glasgow in the third of five heats
‘I knew what was coming in terms of the roar of the crowd because I remembered it from when I raced a Glasgow GP at the Emirates Arena before,’ said Jemma.
‘It’s brilliant to have that home support and I’m pleased with how it went today. Tomorrow the semis will be tough but I just have to make sure I fet the job done.
‘I don’t take anything for granted, just like I didn’t at the British Champs.
‘It is a World Championships so everyone steps up. I kept my head focused and stayed relaxed and I was confident I would go through.’
Jemma in fact was the fastest of all those to progress to the semis, which take place on Saturday lunch-time.
