Equality Guidance For Clubs Sept 2021

scottishathletics issued revised Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Guidance to our clubs at the end of September.

And we are pleased to now present a webinar opportunity for club representatives to learn more about these issues via an online education session.

Our Guidance is a resource for clubs to provide support on equality issues, covering the characteristics held and protected by the Equality Act 2010.

The advice includes a good practice checklist toolkit for clubs to self-evaluate where they are with regards to Equality and Inclusion within their club, examples of best practice, where to go for advice and support, and Inclusion Champion case examples from clubs.

Our webinar will take place on Monday 29 November from 7pm to 8pm.

We are delighted Aberdeen AAC, Corstorphine AAC and Perth Strathtay Harriers will be joining us with presentations.

The webinar will cover the following:

  • Presentation on the main highlights of the Guidance
  • Examples of best practice from clubs (speakers from Aberdeen, Corstorphine and Perth Strathtay)  and sharing best practice between clubs (including findings from the National Club Conference Equality Workshop)
  • Answer any questions clubs may have on the guidance

Francesca Snitjer is our Equalities Officer

The webinar will be hosted by Equalities Officer, Francesca Snitjer, who will be joined by members of the Development Team and the scottishathletics Equality and Diversity Advisory Group.

Conversations at the Equality workshops at the National Club Conference, highlighted the case/need for sharing best practices between the clubs.

Many clubs shared similar issues and problems to certain things relating to equality and inclusion but had different approaches.

We believe it can be really helpful for clubs to learn from each other and to highlight where there has been success or a positive impact made.
