scottishathletics are pleased to offer a £5000 prize pot for top performances at the 4J Senior Champs next month.

Entries are open online for the event at Aberdeen Sports Centre over the weekend of August 13 and 14.

We’re really keen to make it a very special weekend for our sport, in a Commonwealth Games year, and will have live stream coverage via our broadcast partners Vinco Sport.

And, with significant support from our sponsors 4J Studios, we have increased the prize pot on offer for top performances by Seniors and Para athletes to £5000 – with a new three-tier structure.

The ‘Gold, Silver and Bronze’ categories mean athletes can land a share of the overall pot; with those who achieve top line standards (Gold) effectively also achieving the silver and bronze to thus land more cash.

Here’s a couple of examples . . .

Women’s 800m: Gold at 2:00.50; Silver at 2:03.00; Bronze at 2:05.00

Men’s Long Jump: Gold at 7.95m; Silver at 7.80m; Bronze at 7.65m.

Last year, there was a three-way split for the £2000 prize money (not Para) and the recipients were David Smith, Nick Percy and Kirsty Law.

Para athletes will bid for shares within the same pot via appropriate standards (see the download).

Entries have opened online now and scottishathletics members receive priority up until Monday 18 July – when we open it to non-members, as well.

*The Scottish Seniors now also has World Rankings points status (Under Band E in the World Rankings guidelines). This means participating athletes can be internationally recognised, scoring World Ranking points in their events.

To help with forward planning, a provisional version of the Timetable is published on the Event Section page.

We will start at 11am on the Saturday in order to try and help athletes in terms of travel times.

Entries will close on Thursday 28 July at midnight.

*Entry Costs: Seniors £12 per event, U17 £10.50 per event

*U17 athletes may enter a maximum of THREE events.
